Introducing Novel Technology to

Visualize Cancer

Using Biochemical Imaging

BlackLight Surgical has developed breakthrough technology to revolutionize medical imaging, based on years of research at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. The technology, which incorporates principles of Auto-Fluorescence lifetime, can be used intra-operatively and is highly accurate in characterizing tissue without the need for dyes or drugs.

Our First Application

Breast Cancer

Our initial focus is on addressing a long-standing problem: one third of patients require a second or third procedure following breast conserving surgery (BCS) to fully remove the cancer. This is both highly stressful for the patients and a huge financial burden on the healthcare system. Our biochemical imaging modality is designed to provide the surgeon rapid intra-operative information to ensure complete resection of the cancer the first time.

This New Modality Is A

Platform Technology

The technology is capable of broadly characterizing tissue and therefore can go beyond breast cancer into identifying other solid tumors such as brain, lung, head and neck and colon. It can also aid in other applications such as enhancing colonoscopy, interrogating atherosclerotic plaques, and investigating suspicious dermatological conditions.
